In 2009, Jeff and Julie Thomas founded Concierge Home and Business Watch in Grants Pass, OR, recognizing the need for a private security service that went beyond industry standards. With extensive backgrounds in law enforcement, they built the business on the values of honesty, integrity, and professionalism.
In the fall of 2021, Mark Mercer acquired the company, carrying forward the mission established by its founders. With 35 years of law enforcement experience and a history of successfully leading a security company based in Vancouver, WA, Mark brings deep industry expertise, leadership, and a commitment to innovation in security services.
Mark’s career began in 1989, progressing from Reserve Deputy Sheriff to Sergeant, where he led his own team of Reserve Deputies. His experience includes roles as a SWAT team officer, Firearms Instructor, and K-9 handler, each contributing to the specialized knowledge that shapes Concierge Security today.
Following his retirement from law enforcement, Mark’s dedication to security excellence led him to purchase a struggling security company in NE Portland in the late 2000s. Through hard work, integrity, and responsible business practices, he and his team earned trust and recognition in the community. The business later expanded its operations to Vancouver, WA, growing both in service area and personnel.
This success made acquiring Concierge Home and Business Watch in Southern Oregon a natural next step. After 12 years of trusted service, the company had already earned a strong reputation in the region. Under Mark’s leadership, it continues to expand, offering dependable security solutions to homes and businesses throughout Southern Oregon.
Now, as we advance into the third decade of the 21st century, Concierge Security stands ready to grow and serve, strengthened by leadership that combines experience, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to safety.

Upon its founding in ‘09, Concierge Security’s leadership team set out to transform the small security agency into the region’s premier professional security agency. In doing so, it also transformed the security industry itself.
By continually working to improve and update the technical (computer) and mechanical (vehicle) systems with which it operates, Concierge Security is at the forefront of a new age of security professionals. With the latest software powering the best communications and security dispatch systems, Concierge Security monitors and patrols a wider range of clients and properties than ever before.
The result? Since 2009, the company has set about redefining what 21st-century security can and should be. From humble beginnings — Concierge Security has now grown to 50 employees and continues to add to both its employee roster and its client list. Each member of the Concierge Security team is an expert in professional security monitoring and response. And each officer is dedicated to superior customer service and the revitalization of their roles in helping protect and secure the communities in which they live and work.
